      Message From The East

My Brothers, it is with the greatest honor that I accept the position of Worshipful Master of Somerset-St. James Lodge #34.  2009 was an eventful year.  We laughed together and cried together, while doing what we do best.  Being masons!  We introduced many new brothers to our lodge and suffered some losses.  We took advantage of the knowledge and experience of all our Past Masters, Past Grand Master, District Lecturer, Historian and tenured Brethren and with that Worshipful Brother Brian Eckenrode established a theme for 2009, based on Masonic Education, which was, “Let’s Learn Together”.  In keeping with this tradition I have selected a theme for the 2010 term, which is “Keep Moving Forward”.

My plan is to utilize the experiences we have had and the lessons learned to guide our lodge into the future.  Our degree work is breathtaking, and we have established a “status quo”.  We need to keep this awesome work moving forward.  I want to introduce innovation into our lodge.  I want to inspire brothers to take on new roles and challenges.  I want a brother to look to the East and be inspired to preside over a lodge.  I want our brothers to attend CHIP events and inspire our youth.  There is Masonic History all around us.  As we enter a new year, our officers will be planning various trips to lodges in other states, a trip to the George Washington Masonic Memorial in Alexandria, VA. and to the Scottish Rite’s National Heritage Museum in Lexington, MA.

As I look forward to our officer line, I see a group of inspired men, ready for any challenges that face them.  I see the innovation that we plan to introduce.  The 2009 Officer’s Line of Somerset-St. James Lodge #34 currently has no Past Masters seated (except for the Treasurer, Secretary, Historian, and Organist).

I speak for all the officers when I say we look forward to getting started with the 2010 term.  We look forward to working with and socializing with all brothers that can be available.  We are willing to accept any guidance and suggestion that will come our way.  We are happy to serve the Masonic community and Somerset-St. James Lodge #34.

Fraternally,  Jason Stork

Worshipful Master
